Estwing Camper's Axe 16''/26'' - The Best Camping Axe
Estwing's Camper's Axe is forged in one piece of solid American steel to last a lifetime. It also features a 4" cutting edge that makes deeper faster cuts and easier chopping. Our customers are highly satisfied with its top-notch performance when it comes to chopping firewood, cutting kindling, hacking away thick shrubs/roots and more. It is available as a 16" standard axe or 26" long handle axe that is perfect for hunting and farm use.
Estwing’s nylon-vinyl grip introduced in the 1950s, with its patented Shock Reduction feature, is permanently molded and bonded to the handle shank. This exclusive grip reduces the vibration transfer from the tool to the user by as much as 70%. For the professional user who wields an axe on a daily basis, Estwing Camper's Axe provides unsurpassed comfort. No other axe has this grip.
Each axe comes with a heavy-duty nylon sheath for safe storage.

How to Choose Axe Handle Length
Generally speaking, the longer the axe handle, the more force you could deliver. However, it may not be under control as easy as the short-handled axe, i.e. you may not be able to get the axe where you need it, particularly for beginners. A shorter one allows you to swing with more control and accuracy.
If you are going to be in the bush or in the woods, carrying a bunch of stuff around, cutting relatively small pieces of wood for fire or shelter, 16'' pocket-size Estwing Camper's Axe will be a perfect fit.
If you have to chop logs or rounds for wood either at home or in camp, you will need a longer axe that allows you to do a lot less chopping to cut through something.
Eye Protection When Using an Axe
OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.133 requires the use of eye protection not only for workers using striking tools but also for nearby workers in the immediate working area. Similar requirements are contained in OSHA Construction Standards 29 CFR 1926.102. Mine Safety and Health Administration requires eye protection in the Mining Environment 30-CR 55.14.4, 30 CFR 56-15-4, 30 CFR 57-15-4, 30 CFR 75.1720 (a) and 30 CFR 77.1710 (a).
